rh-400Dr. Raymond Haroun

A native of Connecticut, Dr. Raymond Haroun completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he served as an Instructor of Neurological Surgery.

During his training, Dr. Haroun completed both a spine surgery and neuro-oncology fellowship. He has advanced training in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. He employs the latest techniques to ensure the most favorable outcomes for his patients. Dr. Haroun’s mission is to offer personalized treatments for you, considering all conservative and surgical options, in a caring and compassionate environment.

Dr. Haroun earned his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society for his academic achievements. Dr. Haroun is most proud of receiving the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for humanism in medicine, based on his delivery of kind and compassionate medical care. As a medical student, Dr. Haroun was awarded a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute scholarship for his research in gene regulation at The National Cancer Institute. This work has been published in the journal “Science.”

While earning his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in the city of New York, Dr. Haroun was elected to Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, and served as its President. He was also elected to Eta Kappa Nu, the electrical engineering honor society.

Dr. Haroun is widely published, having authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts.

Dr. Haroun’s clinical and research interests have included; complex spine surgery, brain and spine tumors, Chiari malformations, radiosurgery, spinal cord stimulation, and peripheral nerve entrapment.

Madison Gagern, PA-C

Madison Gagern, PA-C, graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She then earned her Master of Science from University of Maryland whilst completing her Physician Assistant program in 2020. Madison is a board certified Physician Assistant.

Madison has been a part of the Maryland Spine Specialist team for several years because of her strong interest in neurosurgery and her desire to help patients solve their complex spine problems. She looks forward to working with patients and assisting in the operating room.

Madison lives in Severna Park with her husband, son, and dog. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and the beach.
